2013 Employee Contest Winners

We received over 1,200 photos for the 2013 Share the Experience Photo Contest! We hope you enjoyed sharing your experiences with everyone.

With so many great photos to choose from, our judges worked hard to come up with the ones which they felt best shared the experience of the participating agencies.

The Grand Prize winning photo was taken by Crater Lake seasonal employee Dave Harrison. His image of Arches National Park took a lot of hard work to get it just right. As Dave describes, “I had to get up in the dark in order to hike to the site by dawn and I think I wore every article of clothing I had. I shivered for an hour while waiting for the light.” He also described how he has been a photographer for a long time. “I have been taking pictures ever since I was in high school, but it wasn't until I retired from my teaching job four years ago that I was actually able to get serious about my hobby.”

His serious focus on photography has certainly paid off. Congratulations Dave!

Dave was presented a framed copy of his photo from Superintendent Craig Ackerman.

The photo was also presented to the National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis by Pass Program Manager Brooke Linford and Amber Hanna from the National Park Foundation.
